Dear Buffalo Bill... : )))
I read with interest the comment of the Air Policemen. Of course, weall appreciate the efforts of our brothers and sisters in the service ofour country, our community and our families. I was a junior enlistedsoldier longer ( over 48 months) than many soldiers serve. But becauseI was in an Intel slot working at the foot of the German - AustrianAlps, while many others were under fire in the jungles of Vietnam... Isincerely felt others deserved to be promoted before me. I actuallybecame interested in getting promoted around the time the Army startedthe "Up or Out" policy. I was in the top 10% of my career field...working in a plumb job in Joint Forces. I was one of the few Army dogson a team... my boss was USMC, the OIC was Air Force and our commanderwas Navy. I understand how some individuals (especially some in mundaneassignments) may feel left out, but honestly... everyone in uniform is adeserving veteran. All our efforts combined make the missionspossible... keep our families and our nation safe. The efforts of thepolice, both civilian and military is hugely under appreciated. I mustsay after 9-11 there has been a marked improvement in the public'sappreciation for the efforts of our emergency and police servicepersonnel. Every one from the simplest job, to the general staff... we survivetogether as a band of individuals with a common purpose... defense ofour loved ones, our nation... and elimination or efficient destructionof any and all enemies. Within that we have so many unheraldedspecialists... clerks, medical specialists, supply and transportpersonnel, and of course the every necessary cooks! Dear Buffalo, I don't recall you telling anyone that they don't count.I do understand when some individuals wonder... because the parades seemto pass them buy with out notice. But that is untrue... at least whereI come from. Each and every one in uniform is appreciated. We areall part of the common defense. GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!GOD BLESS OUR CITIZENS!!! Respectfully, Howard LucasUS Army retiredManassas VA USA
