Justices: Cops with warrant don’t have to knock

I found the following article and I must say I have very mixed feelings about this. Right here in Oklahoma the Law under the cover of darkness attempted to serve a no knock warrant. The Law dressed in fatigues, charged a mans home and a fire fight ensued. A law officer was killed. As sad as that is. The homeowner said he didn't know they were law officers he thought someone was breaking into his house. He however has been convicted of murder. It took the gov. two trials to get it. (thats another story)
I too would probably fire on nija's running to my house in the middle of the night.
Our local and state government here recognizes the right of protecting ourselves with weapons. My thoughts are how does this fit with the supreme court's ruling on a no knock search.

Justices: Cops with warrant don’t have to knock
5-4 decision finds it doesn’t undermine unreasonable search protections
Updated: 6:04 p.m. CT June 15, 2006
WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court ruled Thursday that police armed with a warrant can barge into homes and seize evidence even if they don’t knock, a huge government victory that was decided by President Bush’s new justices.
The 5-4 ruling signals the court’s conservative shift following the departure of moderate Sandra Day O’Connor.
The case tested previous court rulings that police armed with warrants generally must knock and announce themselves or they run afoul of the Constitution’s Fourth Amendment ban on unreasonable searches. Go here for the rest of this story.
